Clay bar lubricant water. Auto detailing companies are charging huge amounts for their ready to. Is the car wash soap which is supposed to lubricate and suspend dirt an adequate clay bar lubricant. The idea being if you picked up any sharp or large bits on the clay the water wouldnt provide enough lubrication an you could put swirls in your paint. Much easier and more economical than throwing away a dropped clay bar.
I am just wondering if you guys think it would be ok to use water here since that is what it says or is that just a gimmick of the. This is to ensure the lubricant won t evaporate before you get a chance to clay bar the entire area. I m wonder if there s a cheaper way to lube it such as the wash soap. I have never used a clay bar before but everything i have read says to always use a lubricant and always use the one that comes with the clay.
Apply clay bar lubricant to an approximately 2 foot square area. Adding 2 oz of product to a gallon of water will make an awesome clay bar lubricant and adding 6 oz to a gallon of water provides you with a super shiny quick detailing solution. I just bought some claybars off amazon and now i noticed they say you don t need a lubricant just use water. You simply apply some lubricant and wipe the surface with the autoscrub towel.
But water s not a lubricant and all clay bar makers say to use a lubricant theirs usually. I would not use water as a lubricant myself. Use a small piece of clay bar to rub back and forth across the area until it glides smoothly without grabbing in any points of the 2 foot area. Using clay bar with water meguiars tends to say it is best to have some sort of lubrication as in a soap or detailer spray not just water alone.
