Float mounting is where all the edges of the art print or picture are exposed and then art is separated from the glass with a plastic spacer. When a piece is floated its raw edges are visible as opposed to mounting where the mount covers the edges with the crisp lines of the card and when you look at it from any angle there is no sign of anything which fixes it in position.

Float or floater frames are so named because the illusion they create is that your artwork is floating within the frame instead of being covered by it. This is a very common way of mounting your artwork when you do not want a mat to cover the edge of the paper.

First we attach your art to an acid free foam core lift hidden behind the work but mounted to a supporting white mat.

Second we use a spacer to create space between the plexiglass and the surface of your work. We have 7 colors that can be used with artwork up to 3 4 deep. An original charcoal drawing with an elevated float mount in our black maple frame float mounting is most practical for artwork when the image comes all the way to the edges. The art appears as if it were floating in the frame because you can t see it mounted to anything.
